The EU recently approved the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the largest change to the protection of personal data since the Directive in 1995. The GDPR comes into effect on 25 May 2018.

In this essential event aimed at all marketers we plan to dispel some of the myths that have developed around GDPR and the person that knows this best is Jersey’s Information Commissioner, Emma Martins.

Emma is responsible for regulatory oversight of the new GDPR-equivalent legislation across Jersey and Guernsey and is central to developing the GDPR for both islands.

It is unlikely that the States of Jersey or Guernsey will publish the new legislation until late in 2017 or early 2018 so Emma will assist us in understanding how GDPR will affect our business and what we can do to “get our house in order” in the meantime.

Emma is an energetic and enthusiastic speaker, and is creating a presentation specifically for local marketers. Whilst this is a serious subject, Emma will deliver her content in an entertaining fashion – making it easy to understand and retain. There will be a Q&A session after this thought-provoking presentation so we expect you to have plenty of questions!
