Visit Jersey is the independent company recently established by the States of Jersey following a strategic review to revitalise the marketing of Jersey as a tourist destination to existing and new markets.

The Board is now seeking to recruit the new key position of Head of Marketing. This senior management role, reporting directly to the Chief Executive, will be responsible for developing and implementing a marketing strategy which will deliver against agreed goals, working in partnership with Jersey’s tourism industry and government departments on all aspects of the development and promotion of the Island as a destination.

Responsible for developing Visit Jersey’s brand, tailored to target market segments and differentiated from competitor offers and developing a communication strategy, including campaigns and promotions, that achieve incremental growth in target market visitor numbers and spend.

Skills and attributes required:

• a successful track record in strategic marketing, supported by a recognised qualification.

• a solid knowledge of competitor offers and differentiators, and evidence of the capability to develop and position Jersey’s brand within this competitor environment.

• evidence of awareness of the opportunities arising from the current and future digital environment, and of the capability to leverage these for the benefit of Visit Jersey.

Applicants will demonstrate extensive experience of marketing and promotion, will be able to champion tourism and be a strategic thinker who understands the public/private sector partnership marketing and digital potential. While tourism and/or closely related sector experience would be useful applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong track record of maximising investment in marketing spend and be able to motivate a team to deliver consistently highly. They will have the presence and stature to be ambassadors for Jersey as a destination and inspire the world to visit, explore and fall in love with Jersey and have the resilience to operate in a high profile public interest organisation during a period of change.

Most importantly they will be creative, resourceful and savvy in maximising the reach and effectiveness of the marketing budget and have a passion for tourism and for Jersey’s offer to visitors. Great communication skills with the ability to relate at all levels will be essential as will the ability to build and maintain mutually beneficial, productive relationships in the public and private sectors.
